This is a movie you have to watch twice. Twice, at least, because you will have your eyes closed for half of the movie the first time you see it.
When the son of the namesless couple (Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg) climbs out of the window and dies, the couple decides to take a break and move to a cabin in the woods. As a therapist, the husband wants to treat his wife and help her deal with the loss. But out in the woods, nature takes over and sanity gives way to brutality.
The explicit sex scenes and brute violence make the movie a classic psycho-thrill. At the same time it is a piece of art for its excellent music, beautiful scenery and of course the talking fox (how scary was that!).
