House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
The classical Hillbilly-Horror Movie setting. Young teenagers are on a roadtrip to visit spooky places in America. When they meet the vulgar but kind of friendly Captain Spaulding at the gas station with an in-house ghost train, their journey takes a malicious twist…
Highlight: Soundtrack, actors, costumes
10 out of 10 stab wounds
The Devil’s Rejects (2009)
Sequel of “House of 1000 Corpses”. The Firefly-Family Story continues.
Highlight: Soundtrack (especially Lynard Skynards “Freebird”, which ends the movie in an ambivalent way – you just can’t decide whether to sympathise with the Hillbilly-murderers or not)
9 out of 10 stab wounds
Halloween 1 (2007)
Remake of the 1978 Movie.
Rob Zombie brings back the serial killer Michael Myers. The film includes a kind of prequel and gives insights into the abstruse mind of the murderer. Not the best Rob Zombie move (see “House of 1000 Corpses”) but good to watch.
